Case Study Details
Contact was made with XX at a Net Zero event that I attended, at the event XX requested an EARN audit.
XX lives in a 3 bed, very old, solid stone house. All windows are either secondary glazed or double glazing, there is 400mm of loft insulation and internal wall insulation has been fitted. XX has gas combi boiler for central heating and hot water, a gas aga and a solid fuel stove for secondary heating.
4 radiators were on exteranls walls and I supplied radiator reflectors for these. All internal light fittings had LED bulbs however 4 outside lighte were Hallogen so I recommended changing these.
XX was interested in installing an airsource heat pump to reduce her Carbon foot print, we discussed how the technology worked, running costs compared to gas and modifications that might be needed such as larger radiators, space for a water tank. We also talked about possible funding sources.
XX showed me an energy bill/letters from her supplier that she was confused by, I was able to speak to the supplier and resolve/clarify for XX. There was an issue because a final reading had not been given, by the contactor, to the supplier when she had a smart meter fitted 2 years ago. This reading had recently been acquired by the supplier there was a £53 debt however this was written off because it was over 12 months old. The supplier had billed XX for £2657 however they had also refunded all her payments over the last 2 years to get back to the correct starting point. XX did not need to make any additional payments because (with the refund) there was sufficient credit on the account to cover the bill. The supplier also paid XX a £50 goodwill gesture for causing distress and confusion.
