In his recent net zero speech, a key policy change announced by the Prime Minister was that the government will: “Delay the ban on installing oil and LPG boilers, and new coal heating, for off-gas-grid homes to 2035, instead of phasing them out from 2026.”
This means that urban and rural areas will be treated the same and has been welcomed by national campaigning organisation the Rural Services Network (RSN).
RSN chief executive, Kerry Booth, said: ““Rural areas want to be part of the solution to Net Zero but they shouldn’t be discriminated against because of their postcode.”
Andy Dean, CAN’s chief executive, said:
“The additional period will give households more time to plan and manage the transition away from fossil fuels. But change we must – to reduce carbon emissions, save energy costs, and increase resilience.
