The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) has been expanded to include air-to-air heat pumps and heat batteries, giving families more choice in how they upgrade their home.
BUS currently offers grants of £7,500 off the cost of installing an air source or ground source heat pump, which can keep homes warm during the winter. Now the scheme has been expanded to offer a £2,500 discount off the cost of installing an air-to-air heat pump, which can offer the best of both worlds, providing heat in winter and keeping you cool in summer.
The scheme remains a non-means tested grant but you must be replacing a fossil fuel system; not installing the technology to help supplement an existing system or to provide cooling in the summer.
