The latest Cost-of-living payment is due between 25 April and 17 May 23.
Those receiving means-tested benefits (including people on Universal Credit, Pension Credit and Tax Credits) will eventually receive £900 in the next set of cost-of-living payments from the government.
This is the first of three payments and is worth £301. The second instalment is due in the autumn and the final next spring. Payments will be made directly into eligible recipients’ bank accounts, without the need to make a claim.
In addition, during the summer, more than six million people with disabilities will get an extra £150. Also, during next winter, over eight million pensioners will receive an extra £300.
Who can get this Cost-of-living payment?
You will qualify if are in receipt of:
- Universal Credit
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income Support
- Working tax credit
- Child tax credit
- Pension credit
You will need to have been entitled to a payment for one of these benefits between 26 January and 25 February 2023, or a payment for an assessment period ending between these dates.
However, you do not qualify if you receive:
- New Style Employment and Support Allowance,
- Contributory Employment and Support Allowance, or
- New Style Jobseeker’s Allowance – unless you also get Universal Credit.
The measures are part of a package of support to help people with the soaring cost of living. It comes as the £400 energy bill discount for all UK residents ends in April.
